What is CAT?
What is it about CAT phones that makes them so special in the rugged industry? History of CAT
CAT, better known as Caterpillar, was founded by Benjamin Holt and C.L Best and established in 1925. Remarkably, Holt and Best were formally rivals in the tractor business. Notably, Benjamin Holt, founder of Holt Manufacturing Company, invented the first steam engine tractor, in 1868. From 1885 to 1912 came the rise of steam tractors. Meanwhile C.L. Best, founder of C.L. Best Tractor Co. focused more on the needs of the consumers and incorporated gasoline technology into tractors, such as a gasoline engine. Before developing CAT, Holt was in a testing stage of his machine No. 77 in 1904. Then in 1905, Holt’s company photographer, Charlie Clement, realized the machine had no wheels. In fact, this led to Clement expressing how No. 77 crawled like a big “Caterpillar”. In summary, Holt and Best decided to join forces after World War I.
