5. How to add an app or delete it

Your device must have a connected Google account before it will be able to download apps.

To add an app:

  1. Press the ‘Play Store’ app on the home screen or find it in the menu.
  2. Type in the app you’d like to download or look for ideas in categories listed towards the upper half of the screen.
    • You may press on the desired app to learn more about it and then install it by pressing ‘Install’
  3. To download, press the 3 dots near the app name and press ‘Install’.
  4. Press ‘Accept’
  5. Drag the app to the desired location and screen.

To remove an app:

  1. Hold down the app you’d like to un-install.
  2. Drag the app and drop it on the ‘Uninstall’ button towards the top of the screen.
  3. Press ‘Yes’ to confirm.

6. How to set a calendar event or delete it

To add a calendar event:

  1. Open the ‘Calendar’ app on the home screen.
  2. Press the orange ‘Plus’ icon
  3. Add the event Name
  4. Add the event Location
  5. Then add the starting and finishing Dates and Times for the event
  6. Add notes or more details if you so desire
  7. Press ‘Save’

To delete a calendar event:

  1. Open the ‘Calendar’ app on the home screen.
  2. Press on the day that has the event you’d like to delete.

7. How to turn on or off airplane mode

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
  2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.

8. How to take a picture

  1. Open the ‘Camera’ app on the home screen
  2. Point the device towards the object or person you’d like to photograph.
  3. Tap the screen to select the focal point.
  4. Press the lower volume key OR tap the screen to take the picture.
  5. To view the image:
    1. Open gallery or photos in the ‘Apps’ men
    2. While in the Camera app, slide to the right to open Gallery.
    3. Right after an image is taken, a circle will come up on the lower right side, click that to view the image.

  2. Select the desired option.
    • MTP – Allows you to transfer files to and from a computer
    • PTP – Allows you to transfer all files or images (using the camera’s software) to and from a computer.

10D. How to reset to default APN settings

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option.
  2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Press ‘Mobile Networks’ under ‘Networks’ section.
  4. Then press ‘Access Point Names’.
  5. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots).
  6. Press ‘Reset Default Settings’.
  7. The original APN settings will now restore.

Each network has their own APN settings to allow the devices to connect to their data service. Contact the device’s network service for their APN settings if the device is new and not yet set up or if it isn’t working properly.

10E. How to use my mobile device as a hotspot

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
  2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Press ‘Tethering’ under ‘Networks’ section
  4. Then press ‘Mobile Hotspot’
  5. Press ‘Set up Mobile Hotspot’
  6. Personalize the name of your device hotspot
  7. Personalize the password
  8. Press ‘Save’
  9. Slide the slider near ‘Mobile Hotspot’ in the previous setting page to enable it
  10. Press ‘Enable’

To connect to a mobile hotspot: Open Wi-Fi networks and find the hotspots name. Sign in using the correct password and it will connect. Multiple devices may connect to a single device hotspot.

Warning: All devices that are connected will use the mobile hotspot’s data. Ensure it has enough data or is connected via Wi-Fi to avoid being charged extra by the network provider.

10F. How to to turn on or off Wi-Fi

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
  2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Wi-Fi will be found under the ‘Networks’ section
  4. Turn on the ‘Wi-Fi’ by pressing on the toggle button
  5. Press on the words ‘Wi-Fi’ to see the networks to connect to
  6. Select the desired Wi-Fi network
  7. Enter the Password. To view the password as you type, press on the ‘Show Password’ box.
  8. Press ‘Connect’
  9. Wi-Fi is now connected.

To disconnect from Wi-Fi:

  1. Do steps 1-2
  2. Turn off the ‘Wi-Fi’ by pressing on the toggle button.

To forget a network:

  1. Press on the network you are connected to
  2. Press ‘Forget’
  3. If desired, turn off the ‘Wi-Fi’ capabilities as stated above.

10G. How to turn on or off roaming

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
  2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Press ‘Mobile Networks’ under ‘Networks’ section
  4. Press ‘International Data Roaming’
  5. Turn on the slider near ‘Mobile Data’

Suggestion: It may cost to connect to Roaming. Contact your network provider if you want to use it to learn about the costs of adding it to your data plan. When roaming, you may need to search for other available networks as the one you currently use may not be the strongest.

10H. How to add or remove an email address

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option

To remove an account:

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option

  1. Open the ‘Messaging’ App
  2. Open the thread in which the message is located
    • To delete an individual message: Hold down the text to delete and press ‘Delete’. Press ‘Delete.
    • To delete the thread: Hold down the thread and press the recycling bin to delete. Press ‘Delete.
    • To delete all threads: Click on the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots). Press ‘Delete all Threads’. Press ‘Delete.

  1. Open the ‘Messaging App’
