1. How to factory reset my device

  1. Press the main screen, press on the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Select ‘Settings’.
  3. Press ‘Back-up & Reset’.
  4. Tap ‘Reset Phone’.
  5. Check off ‘Delete all data’.
  6. Then, press ‘OK’.

The device will restart.

Warning: A factory reset should always be done as a last resort, as it erases all data from the device.

2A. How to change to a new background image

  1. Open the ‘Gallery’ app.
  2. Find the image you want to turn into the background.
  3. Press the ‘Options’ icon on the upper right of the screen.
  4. Press ‘Set as’.
  5. Choose ‘Wallpaper’.
  6. Adjust the crop of the image.
  7. Press ‘Done’.
  8. The image will now be changed.

2B. How to change brightness

Option 1:

  1. Drag down the header.
  2. Press on the tile icon on the upper right corner.
  3. Press on the brightness icon to adjust it to different brightness levels.

Option 2:

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu on the main screen.
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Choose ‘Display, Gestures and Buttons’ under the ‘Phone’ section.
  4. Press ‘Brightness’.
  5. Adjust as desired.

2C. How to adjust screen timeout time

  1. Tap the ‘Apps’ menu icon.
  2. Select ‘Settings’.
  3. Tap ‘Display, Gestures and Buttons’ under the ‘Phone’ section.
  4. Press ‘Sleep’.
  5. Adjust the screen timeout time as desired.

2D. How to add or remove a widget

To add a widget:

  1. Hold down an empty area on the main screen.
  2. Press ‘Widgets’.
  3. Choose the widget to add and drag it towards your choice of screen. There may be multiple depending on the screens you have created by installing apps.
  4. To move a widget, you must press it for a moment and then drag it to the desired location.

To remove a widget:

  1. Hold and drag the desired widget to the ‘X remove’ icon above.

2E. How to lock device with a PIN

  1. Press on the ‘Apps’ icon.
  2. Select ‘Settings’
  3. Press on ‘Security’
  4. Choose ‘Screen Lock’
  5. Choose the desired method of screen lock
  6. Enter the Pin or Password and press ‘Continue’
  7. Confirm the Pin or Password by re-entering it
  8. Then, Press ‘OK’

To undo the Pin or Password:

  1. Do steps 1-4
  2. Enter the Pin or Password to access the options and press ‘Next’
  3. Select the ‘None’ option to have no screen lock activated. To switch screen lock methods, pick the one you desire and do the steps you did originally to set it up.

3. How to find my phone number

  1. Choose the ‘Apps’ icon.
  2. Press ‘Settings’
  3. Next, press ‘Phone Identity’
  4. Read ‘Phone Number’

4. How to change the volume

Option 1:

  1. Press the volume keys on the side of the device.
  2. The up button will higher the volume.
  3. The down button will lower the volume.
  4. Press the ‘Settings’ icon to adjust more sound options such as ‘Ringtone & Notification’, ‘Music & Videos’ as well as ‘Alarms’.

Option 2:

  1. Tap the ‘Apps’ icon.
  2. Select ‘Settings’.
  3. Choose ‘Volumes’
  4. Adjust the ‘Ringtone & Notification’, ‘Music & Videos’ and ‘Alarms’ volumes as desired.
  5. Press ‘Done’

5. How to add an app or delete it

Set up a Google account prior to being able to install apps.

To add an app:

  1. Tap the ‘Play Store’ app.
  2. Type in the app to install or look for ideas in categories listed towards the upper half of the screen.
    • You may press on the desired app to learn more about it and then install it by pressing ‘Install’
  3. To install, press the 3 dots near the app name and press ‘Install’.
  4. Press ‘Accept’.
  5. Drag the app to the desired location and screen.

To remove an app:

  1. Go to the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Hold down the app to un-install.
  3. Drag the app and drop it on the ‘X Uninstall’ towards the top of the screen.
  4. Press ‘Uninstall’.

6. How to set a calendar event or delete it

To add a calendar event:

  1. Press on the ‘Calendar’ app on the home screen.
  2. Press the (+) icon to add an event.
  3. Fill in the events name.
  4. Next, add the events location and it’s starting and finishing times.
  5. Add notes or more details as desired.
  6. Tap ‘Save’

To delete a calendar event:

  1. Open the ‘Calendar’ app on the home screen.
  2. Tap on the day that has the event you’d like to delete.
  3. Find the even on the lower half of the screen and tap on it.
  4. Press on the ‘Options’ icon on the upper right side.
  5. Then, tap ‘Delete’.
  6. Press ‘Yes’ to confirm.

7. How to turn on or off airplane mode

  1. Tap the ‘Apps’ menu icon.
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Toggle the bar near ‘Airplane mode’ to the ON position.
  4. To disable: Press the toggle bar once more.

Airplane Mode disables all forms of Data, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi. It will not allow any incoming or outgoing calls or texts to reach the device. The notifications of missed calls will come once airplane mode is turned off.

8. How to take a picture

  1. Open the ‘Camera’ app on the home screen.
  2. Point the device towards what you’d like to photograph.
  3. Tap the screen to select the focal point.
  4. Press on the camera icon to take the picture
  5. To view the image:
    • While in the Camera app, press on the icon on the bottom right of the screen. Then click on the image to see or edit it.

9A. How to see available storage amounts

  1. Tap the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Select the ‘Settings’ icon.
  3. Press ‘Storage’.
  4. View the storage amounts available or amounts currently used.

9B. How to clear cookies and cache

  1. Tap the ‘Browser’ app on the home screen.
  2. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots) on the upper right hand side.
  3. Then, tap ‘Settings’.
  4. Press ‘Privacy & Security’.
  5. Press ‘Clear Cache’.
  6. Tap ‘OK’.
  7. Do the same with History, cookies, form data etc.

10A. How to see my data usage

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Tap ‘More’ under ‘Wireless & Networks’.
  4. Press ‘Data Manager’.
  5. View Data Usage.
    • One can set the data usage cycle.
    • View which apps or systems use the most data.
    • View how much data each app or system uses within this usage cycle.

10B. How to tether via USB

  1. Connect the USB cable to the computer.
  2. Drag down the top bar on the screen.
  3. Press ‘USB Connected’.
  4. Tap ‘USB Network Setting’.
  5. Choose ‘USB Tethering’.

10C. How to adjust USB connection options

  1. Connect the USB cable to the computer.
  2. Drag down the header of the screen.
  3. Press ‘USB Connected’.
  4. Press ‘HTC Sync Manager’ to turn it on.

10D. How to reset to default APN settings

  1. Press on the ‘Apps’ icon.
  2. Choose ‘Settings’
  3. Press ‘More’ under ‘Wireless & Networks’
  4. Tap ‘Mobile Network Sharing’
  5. Tap ‘Access Point Names’
  6. Press the ‘Options’ icon on the upper right side.
  7. Tap ‘Reset to Default’
  8. The original APN settings will now restore.

APN settings are needed to connect a mobile device to connect to data service. Each network has their specific APN settings that must be typed-in in order to connect to them. Contact your network provider to find out their APN settings if you get a new device or if yours are not proper. If the settings are not right, then little or no data will be coming through.

10E. How to use my mobile device as a hotspot

  1. Open ‘Apps’.
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Open ‘More’ under ‘Wireless & Networks’.
  4. Next, tap ‘Mobile Network Sharing’.
  5. Tap ‘Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot Settings’.
  6. Personalize the name and password of your device hotspot.
  7. Return to the previous screen or to the top of that screen, to toggle the ‘Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot’ to the ON position.

A device connects to a portable hotspot the same way it would for any Wi-Fi network. Open the Wi-Fi settings and search for the hotspots name. Insert the password and it will connect. Each hotspot or mobile device hotspot can connect with multiple portable devices.

Warning: Ensure your device has enough data to share with others without racking up a large bill. It will also quickly drain the device’s battery.

10F. How to to turn on or off Wi-Fi

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ icon.
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Press ‘Wi-Fi’.
  4. Toggle the Wi-Fi to the ON position.
  5. Choose the desired Wi-Fi to connect to.
  6. Enter the Password. Press on the ‘Show Password’ box to see the password as you type.
  7. Press ‘Connect’
  8. Wi-Fi is now connected.

To disconnect from Wi-Fi:

  1. Do steps 1-3
  2. Press on the connected ‘Wi-Fi’ network.
  3. Tap ‘Disconnect’.
  4. Toggle the Wi-Fi toggle bar to the OFF position.

10G. How to turn on or off roaming

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu icon.
  2. Tap ‘Settings’.
  3. Press ‘More’ under ‘Wireless & Networks’.
  4. Press ‘Data Roaming’.
  5. Tap ‘OK’ to allow roaming.

Suggestion: Since roaming is not included in many network service plans, it may cost the user extra. If it’s needed, look into adding it to your plan. When roaming, you may need to search for other available networks as the one you currently use may not be available in that location.

10H. How to add or remove an email address

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Tap ‘Accounts and Sync’.
  4. Press the ‘+’ icon on the upper right corner.
  5. Select the type of account you’d like to add.
  6. Choose ‘Existing’ or ‘New’ regarding the account to add.
  7. Type in the username and password.
  8. Press the ‘Next’ icon.
  9. Tap ‘OK’
  10. Press on the ‘Next’ icon.

To remove an account:

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Tap ‘Settings’.
  3. Choose ‘Account & Sync’.
  4. Press on the account to delete.
  5. Tap on the name of the account.
  6. Press the ‘Options’ icon on the upper right side.
  7. Next, Press ‘Remove’.
  8. Then, Press ‘Remove Account’ to confirm.

Please note: Removing an account will only remove data from the device.  It will all still be accessible from the device’s browser or via other computers etc.

10I. How to turn on or off Bluetooth

  1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu icon.
  2. Select ‘Settings’.
  3. Turn on the slider near Bluetooth.
  4. Press on the words ‘Bluetooth’.
  5. Allow the device to be visible by clicking on your own devices name.
  6. Press on the nearby device with which to connect.
  7. Confirm by pressing ‘Pair’ on both devices.
  8. They are now paired.

To forget a Bluetooth connection:

  1. Press on the ‘Settings’ icon near the paired devices name.
  2. Press Unpair.
  3. Click once again on the devices name to make it invisible.
  4. Turn off Bluetooth by pressing on the slider towards the top of the screen.

11A. How to enable or disable my own caller ID

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ menu.
  2. Tap ‘Settings’
  3. Press ‘Call’ under ‘Phone’ section.
  4. Tap ‘Additional Settings’.
  5. Press ‘Caller ID’.
  6. Press ‘Hide Number’ or ‘Show Number’ or ‘Network Default’

*You may block your number from appearing on any single call by simply dialing *67 before placing the call.

 


11B. How to forward my calls to another phone number

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ menu..
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Tap ‘Call’ under ‘Phone’ section.
  4. Press ‘Call Forwarding’.
  5. Tap ‘Always Forward’ or the desired option.
  6. Enter the number to forward calls to.
  7. Press ‘Enable’ to confirm.
  8. To de-activate call forwarding, press on ‘Always Forward’ and press ‘Disable’.

 


11C. How to bar certain numbers from calling me

  1. Tap the ‘Apps’ menu..
  2. Press ‘Settings’.
  3. Press ‘Call’ under ‘Phone’ section.
  4. Tap ‘Call Barring Settings’.
  5. Choose the desired option and follow prompts.
  6. Type in the default password ‘0000’
  7. Press ‘OK’

 


11D. How to add a contact or delete it

To add a new contact to an address book:

Option 1:

  1. Open the Contacts app.
  2. Press the Plus (+) icon on the top right of the screen.
  3. Type in the Name, Phone number, Email and any other information for the new contact.
  4. Press ‘Save.

Option 2:

  1. Open the Calling app.
  2. Type in the number you’d like to add.
  3. Press ‘Save to People’.
  4. Tap ‘Create New Contact’.
  5. Add the Name, Email and other information.
  6. Press ‘Save’.

To delete a contact:

  1. Open the Contacts app.
  2. Search for the contact to delete.
  3. Press on the contact.
  4. Then, Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots).
  5. Press ‘Delete’.
  6. Press ‘OK’.

12A. How to see my software version

  1. Tap on the ‘Apps’ menu icon.
  2. Press the ‘Settings’ option.
  3. Press ‘About’.
  4. Open ‘Software information’.

12B. How to update my software version

  1. Open the ‘Apps’ menu icons.
  2. Tap ‘Settings’.

13A. How to send a text or MMS

To send a text:

  1. Open the messaging app.
  2. Press the ‘+’ icon to compose a message.
  3. Add the contact to whom the message will be sent.
  4. Add the message to the message field.
  5. Press ‘Send’ icon.

To send a multimedia message (MMS):

  1. Do steps 1-4.
  2. Press the paper clip icon to attach media to the message.
  3. Choose which media to add and from where to find it. In this example we will be doing ‘Picture’.
  4. Press ‘Gallery’
  5. Select the image.
  6. Press ‘Send’ icon.

13B. How to delete a text or MMS

  1. Open the ‘Messaging’ App
  • To delete the thread: Hold down the thread. Press ‘Delete.

  • Deleting an individual message: Hold down the text to delete and press ‘Delete’. Press ‘Delete’.
  • To delete an individual thread from inside, press the ‘Options’ icon. Press ‘Delete Messages. Press ‘OK’

To set up auto delete:

  1. Open the ‘Messaging App’.
  2. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots).
  3. Tap ‘Settings’.
  4. Press ‘General’.
  5. Check off the box near ‘Delete Old Messages’
  6. Press on ‘Text Message Limit’ and set an limit of texts.
  7. Tap ‘OK’.
  8. Press on ‘Multimedia Message Limit’ and set an limit of MMS.
  9. Tap ‘OK’.
