If only so that you can ooh and aah with the rest of us. A 1440 x 2560 resolution means it outperforms most TVs in use today. With the resulting increase in clarity and sharpening that comes with such a dense PPI, you truly won’t experience anything better in today’s marketplace.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Specs

Devices indeed need some serious computing power to drive such a display. Samsung has gone to new and extraordinary lengths to make it all happen. An octa-core processor (that’s effectively 8 separate processors on one chip) and a dedicated graphics chip squeeze every last ounce of performance. Not from just the display, but from every facet of the inner workings of the S7. That includes 12MP and 5MP cameras, which are capable of dual recording, capturing 4K video, and taking pictures without interrupting the video recording. They have geo-tagging, face recognition, touch focus, and much more.

As for actually using the S7 as a phone, connectivity capabilities are unrivaled. The S7 can connect to almost every variety of 4G networks anywhere on Earth. As well, it can automatically fall back to 3G and even 2G if necessary, meaning you have the maximum coverage available wherever you are. With GPS, wi-fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, and Bluetooth 4.2, it’s probably easier to talk about what the S7 doesn’t have. Which is, in smartphone terms, just about nothing.

Seriously, nothing is missing from the Galaxy S7 that you could want in a smartphone. There’s a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the phone and for use in enabled apps. Included are sensors for gyro, barometer, and even heart rate. There is even wireless charging and also Samsung’s patented fast charging that will give you a 60% charge in 30 minutes. Not that you should need it with a battery that provides 22hrs of talk time.

Too Cool to Be Hot

Desktop computer CPUs get very hot and have cooling systems built into the motherboard on which they are mounted. Yet smartphones – despite also getting worryingly hot when under pressure – just don’t have the space inside to be able to have such things. Or they did until now.

Somehow, Samsung has managed to not just add a basic heat sink to try and reduce heat build-up. They’ve included a liquid-based system for transferring heat away from components. Especially for those that perform better and last longer when not constantly running at temperatures so hot the phone becomes uncomfortable in the hand. This application of cooling is unique among major smartphone manufacturers. It makes the lifespan of the Samsung S7 even greater than the already great longevity offered by the high base specs.

Other self-protection features of the S7 include Corning Gorilla Glass guarding that beautiful screen. It is also IP68 certified. That means that the phone is dustproof and water-resistant in up to 1 meter of water for 30 minutes.

We are at the stage where it’s becoming almost impossible to second guess where smartphone manufacturers go from here. The Galaxy S7 is just so well spec-ed, and so well designed and put together. Short of minor improvements as the present technologies advance, it’s difficult to imagine anything better.
