One of the most popular phones currently on the market, the Unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has almost everything anyone could ever want from a smartphone.
This device is brand new and unlocked to all GSM networks. Mr Aberthon covers this phone under their 14 day return policy, and you may return the phone within that time-frame, no questions asked. Read more here.
Whether you like the word “phablet” or not, there’s no doubting that mobile phones are available in sizes that are larger than used to be typical. The Samsung Galaxy Note range has long been the leader in the phone/tablet crossover movement, and the Note 4 is one of the reasons why. Larger all round than the standard Galaxy S4, the Note 4 means having an office-on-the-go is much easier to negotiate than would be the case on other devices, due to the larger screen size and the addition of the S-Pen stylus to make both typing and handwritten notes a breeze.
It’s probably not a surprise if we mention that the Galaxy Note 4 is the 4th version of Samsung’s acclaimed Note range. But where some manufacturers might be satisfied to make minor changes to established members of their lineup, Samsung continue to make huge leaps in both hardware and software upgrades with each release. Aligned with the flagship Galaxy S range, the Note 4 matches it’s smaller sibling stride for stride in both performance and usability.
One of the key selling points of any device at the higher end of the Samsung range is the display. Samsung have long led the field in the quality it brings, and the Note 4 continues that with its 5.7”, 1440 x 2560px, Super Amoled display that has a massive 518ppi pixel density. Most smartphones come in at around the 400ppi mark, and the denser the ppi, the sharper and xclearer the on screen text and images become. In the official Google table of pixel density, this equates to the highest classification of Extra Extra Extra High Density, so you know it’s a little bit special.
Of course, a high spec display takes some power to drive it, and the Note 4 doesn’t disappoint. In testing the 3220mAh battery lost just 19% of the charge during a 90 minute HD video. This beats everything else in its class, and means you should have no problems getting through a full day of general use. If video isn’t your thing, you’ll get up to 20 hours of talk time or 82hrs of standby and, let’s face it, you have to sleep sometime.
The cameras have always been another strong point of Samsung devices, and the Note 4 packs in a 16MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization, LED Flash, autofocus, face/smile detection plus panorama and HDR options. The rear camera is also able to capture 2160p video at 30fps or 1080p at 60fps, whilst the front 3.7MP camera can capture 1440p or 1080p video at 30fps. There’s the added bonus of being able to record with both cameras simultaneously.
The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a very handy 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to an enormous 256GB with an optional MicroSD card.
The Note 4, as with all Mr Aberthon devices, is fully unlocked. This means you’ll find no problems switching networks or using the device overseas. Compatible with GSM networks in over 190 countries means the ability to put any locally purchased SIM card in and getting data downloads at local rates instead of the expensive roaming rates that usually come with US carrier contracts.
All this can be done either via 4G or dual band Wi Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, so you get the fastest speeds available. You can also act as a wi-fi hotspot for friends and family or create a special Peer to Peer wi-fi network for direct connection to a second wi-fi enabled device. You also get Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC for ultimate convenience.
The Galaxy Note 4 has a fingerprint sensor for maximum security. Rather than relying on possibly compromised swipe patterns or access codes, the fingerprint sensor lets you unlock the Note 4, and can even be used on fingerprint-aware apps such as those provided by some online banking providers. If all that sets your heart racing, check just how racey it is with the built in heart monitor, and check if you need to lie down with the gyroscope. Don’t worry, though, you’ll always get back home with the compass that’s also included.
And remember that great battery performance we mentioned earlier? With Samsung Fast Charge 2, you can get up to 60% charge in just 30 minutes, so it’s unlikely you’ll ever run out of power for very long.
Adaptive brightness means easy screen visibility in even the brightest sunlight, and there’s voice control, air gestures for certain operations, built in photo, video and document editors, and the ability to play just about any audio and video format in common use today. And all this is somehow squeezed into a device that is just 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm (6.04 x 3.09 x 0.33 in) in size and weighs just 6.21oz (176g).
Sometimes, manufacturers spend so long thinking about what components they build mobile devices with that they forget to write software to get the best out of them. With the galaxy Note 4, however, Samsung have got it exactly right. Power really does equal performance with the Note 4, so you’re never going to feel disappointed.
