The Huawei Ascend XT2 came out back in 2017, but it’s still an excellent affordable smartphone. As an entry-level model, though, you shouldn’t expect a lot of bells and whistles.

However, the XT2 gets the job done, and it’s a great choice for busy warehouse, logistics, and construction teams. With that said, it’s not a ruggedized smartphone. Therefore, some extra protection might be necessary.

Design

The XT2 is relatively compact and pocketable. The device measures 6.04 x 3.0 x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.82 ounces.

It’s made of durable plastic and feels solid in the hand, despite being pretty lightweight. Even so, you should avoid dropping or submerging the phone because it doesn’t offer any protection against that.

This smartphone has rounded edges and a 5.5-inch screen. The great thing is that the bezels are minimal, bar the phone’s chin and top. And the overall design on the front resembles iPhone 6.

Due to the small form factor, you shouldn’t struggle to use the XT2 with one hand.

Battery

This device has a fixed 4000mAh battery made of Lithium Polymer. It doesn’t support wireless charging, but you can fast charge the device with the existing charger.

The manufacture puts the standby time at 550 hours, and the talk time is 25 hours. Plus, you should be able to continuously play videos for about eight hours. In reality, the battery will easily last an entire day without needing to recharge the phone.

The CPU is Snapdragon 435, and you get 2GB of RAM. This isn’t the most powerful combo, but it is effective. The XT2 ships with 16GB of memory. But you’ll need to expand it as soon as you get the device as the pre-installed software takes up a lot of space.

The good news is that the memory is expandable up to 128GB. And the device supports three types of SD cards – microSDXC, microSDHC, and microSD.

Note that this device isn’t designed for demanding users. It struggles with RAM and CPU-intensive games, and there might be some lag when you try to multitask.

But the XT2 handles common productivity tasks with ease. And there won’t be any problems emailing, texting, and calling.

Connectivity

The XT2 works on three bands (2G, 3G, 4G) and offers Bluetooth 4.1 and Wi-Fi support. Additionally, it features a proximity sensor, compass, and accelerometer.

As for the network performance, it’s pretty seamless, and the VoIP calls are smooth, albeit a bit robotic-sounding sometimes. However, keep in mind that the call quality and reception will depend on your carrier.
