The XT in the name refers to the increased size of the Ascend XT’s screen which weighs in at a whopping 6 inches. This extra size bridges the gap between phones and phablets, leading to the slightly less-than-elegant “phablets” portmanteau. However, that aside, the Huawei Ascend XT is a wonderful device that will still fit comfortably in most pockets or purses. The extra screen real estate makes a whole world of difference when watching movies or gaming.

The display itself is of the IPS-LCD variety. The great benefit of such displays is that it can be viewed from just about any angle with no loss of color or sharpness. It also doesn’t suffer from the “finger-ghosting” that other screens have, where sliding your finger across the screen leaves a white trail. Technicalities aside, the quality of the display on the Ascend XT is stunning. The colors are vivid and bright, and the sharpness is excellent.
