1. How to factory reset my device

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Back-up & Reset’ under ‘General’ section
4. Then tap ‘Factory Data Reset’
5. Press ‘Reset Phone’
6. Press ‘Delete All’

The device will likely restart as it resets itself.

Warning: Doing a factory reset is a last resort decision as it will erase all media formats, files and data from the device.

2A. How to change to a new background image

1. Hold down an empty area on the screen
2. Press ‘Wallpapers’
3. Choose the desired image and watch it replace the background images

2B. How to change brightness

Option 1:

1. Drag down the header
2. Slide the brightness bar to the right to add in brightness or to the left to lower the brightness.

Option 2:

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option.
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Brightness’ under the ‘Display’ section.
4. Adjust the brightness as desired.

2C. How to adjust screen timeout time

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option.
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Screen Timeout’ under ‘Display’ section.
4. Adjust the amount of time desired for the screen to time out.

2D. How to add or remove a widget

To add a widget:

1. Hold down an empty area on the main screen
2. Press ‘Widgets’
3. Choose the widget to add and drag it onto the desired location on the screen
4. Moving a widget is done in the same form. Press and hold it and drag it to the desired location.

To remove a widget:

1. Hold and drag the desired widget to the ‘remove’ icon above

2E. How to lock device with a PIN

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Security’ under ‘General’ section
4. Press ‘Select Screen Lock’
5. Choose the desired method of screen lock
6. Enter the Pin or Password and press ‘Next’
7. Confirm the Pin or Password by pressing ‘OK’
8. Press ‘OK’

To undo the Pin or Password:

1. Do steps 1-4
2. Press ‘Select Screen Lock’
3. Enter the Pin or Password and press ‘Next’
4. Select the ‘None’ option
5. Press ‘Remove’ to confirm the security change

3. How to find my phone number

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘About Phone’ under ‘General’ section
4. Press ‘Status’
5. Read ‘My Phone Number’

4. How to change the volume

Option 1:

1. Press the volume keys on the side of the device.
2. Up – higher the volume
3. Down – Lower the volume
4. Press the ‘Settings’ icon to adjust more sound options

Option 2:

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Volume’ under ‘Sound and Notifications’ section
4. Adjust as desired
5. Press ‘OK’

5. How to add an app or delete it

Your device must have a connected Google account before it will be able to download apps.

To add an app:

1. Press the ‘Play Store’ app on the home screen or find it in the menu.
2. Type in the app you’d like to download or look for ideas in categories listed towards the upper half of the screen.
   • You may press on the desired app to learn more about it and then install it by pressing ‘Install’
3. To download, press the 3 dots near the app name and press ‘Install’.
4. Press ‘Accept’
5. Drag the app to the desired location and screen.

To remove an app:

1. Hold down the app you’d like to un-install.
2. Drag the app and drop it on the ‘Uninstall’ towards the top of the screen.
3. Press ‘Yes’ to confirm.

6. How to set a calendar event or delete it

To add a calendar event:

1. Open the ‘Calendar’ app on the home screen.
2. Press the orange ‘Plus’ icon
3. Add the event Name and Location
4. Then add the starting and finishing Dates and Times for the event
5. Add notes or more details if you so desire
6. Press ‘Save’

To delete a calendar event:

1. Open the ‘Calendar’ app on the home screen.
2. Press on the day that has the event you’d like to delete.
3. Tap on the event you’d like to delete.
4. Press the ‘Recycling Bin’ icon
5. Press ‘Yes’ to confirm

7. How to turn on or off airplane mode

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Airplane mode’ under the ‘Networks’ tab
4. Press ‘OK’
5. To disable: Press ‘Airplane Mode’ once more

Airplane Mode will disable all Data, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi as well as all incoming and outgoing Calls and Texts.

8. How to take a picture

1. Open the ‘Camera’ app on the home screen
2. Point the device towards the object or person you’d like to photograph.
3. Tap the screen to select the focal point.
4. Press the lower volume key OR tap the screen to take the picture.
5. To view the image:
   1. Open gallery or photos in the ‘Apps’ men
   2. While in the Camera app, slide to the right to open Gallery.
   3. Right after an image is taken, a circle will come up on the lower right side, click that to view the image.

9A. How to see available storage amounts

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Storage & USB’ under ‘General’ section
4. View the storage amounts available or amounts currently used.

9B. How to clear cookies and cache

1. Open the ‘Chrome’ app on the home screen
2. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots) on the upper right hand side
3. Press ‘Settings’
4. Tap ‘Privacy’
5. Press ‘Clear Browsing Data’
6. Check off which data to remove
7. Press ‘Clear Data’

10A. How to see my data usage

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Data Manager’ under the ‘Networks’ section
4. View Data Usage.
   • Set the data usage cycle
   • View which apps or systems use the most data
   • View how much each app or system uses up of data within this usage cycle.

10B. How to tether via USB

1. Connect the USB cable to the computer.
2. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option.
3. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
4. Press ‘Tethering’ under ‘Networks’ section.
5. Press ‘USB Tethering’.

10C. How to adjust USB connection options

1. Drag down the header and touch ‘Media device’
2. Select the desired option.
   • MTP – Allows you to transfer files to and from a computer
   • PTP – Allows you to transfer all files or images (using the camera’s software) to and from a computer.

10D. How to reset to default APN settings

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option.
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Mobile Networks’ under ‘Networks’ section.
4. Tap on ‘Access Point Names’.
5. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots).
6. Press ‘Reset to Default’.
7. The original APN settings will now restore.

APN settings are what allows the device to connect to data service. Each company has their specific APN settings that must be applied in order to connect to their specific network. Contact the device’s network service for their APN settings if the device is new or isn’t working properly.

10E. How to use my mobile device as a hotspot

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Tethering’ under ‘Networks’ section
4. Tap on ‘Mobile Hotspot’
5. Press ‘Yes’
6. Personalize the name of your device hotspot
7. Personalize the password
8. Press ‘Enable’
9. Ensure that ‘Mobile Hotspot’ feature  is turned on in the previous setting

To connect to a mobile hotspot: Open Wi-Fi networks and click on the hotspots name. Type in the correct password and it will connect. Multiple devices may connect to a single hotspot.

Warning: All connecting devices will use the mobile hotspot’s data. Ensure it has enough data or is connected via Wi-Fi to avoid being charged by the network provider.

10F. How to to turn on or off Wi-Fi

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Wi-Fi will be found under the ‘Networks’ section
4. Turn on the ‘Wi-Fi’ by pressing on the toggle button
5. Press on the words ‘Wi-Fi’ to see the networks to connect to
6. Select the desired Wi-Fi network
7. Enter the Password. To see the password as you type, press on the ‘Show Password’ box.
8. Press ‘Connect’
9. Wi-Fi is now connected.

To disconnect from Wi-Fi:

1. Do steps 1-2
2. Turn off the ‘Wi-Fi’ by pressing on the toggle button.

To forget a network:

1. Press on the network you are connected to
2. Press ‘Forget Network’
3. If desired, turn off the ‘Wi-Fi’ capabilities as stated above.

10G. How to turn on or off roaming

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Choose ‘Mobile Networks’ under ‘Networks’ section
4. Press on ‘International Data Roaming’
5. Press ‘Mobile Data’ to check off the box

Suggestion: Roaming may cost the user as it is not included in many network service plans. If it will be used, it would be better to include it in the data plan. When roaming, you may need to search for other available networks as the one you currently use may not be the strongest.

10H. How to add or remove an email address

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Accounts & Sync’ under ‘General’ section
4. Press ‘Add Account’
5. Select the type of account you’d like to add
6. Type in the username
7. Press ‘Next’
8. Type in the ‘Password’
9. Press ‘Next’
10. Press ‘Accept’
11. Wait a moment for it to connect
12. Adjust details for the new account such as if it should be a backup for your devices data
13. Press ‘Next’

To remove an account:

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘Accounts & Sync’ under ‘General’ section
4. Then tap the account type you’d like to remove
5. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots)
6. Press ‘Remove Account’

Please note: Removing an account will only remove data from the device and not from online. It will still be accessible from other devices or computers.

10I. How to turn on or off Bluetooth

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Find Bluetooth under ‘Networks’ section
4. Turn on the slider near ‘Bluetooth’
5. Press on the words ‘Bluetooth’
6. Press on the nearby device you desire to connect to
7. Confirm by pressing ‘Pair’ on both devices
8. They are now paired.

To forget a Bluetooth connection:

1. Press on the ‘Settings’ icon near the paired devices name
2. Press Unpair
3. Turn off Bluetooth by pressing on the slider towards the top of the screen

11A. How to enable or disable my own caller ID

1. Press on the ‘Phone’ app on the main screen
2. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots)
3. Next, tap ‘Call Settings’
4. Press ‘Caller ID’
5. Press ‘Hide Number’ or ‘Show Number’ or ‘Network Default’

*You may always block your number from appearing on any single call by pressing *67 before dialing the number.

11B. How to forward my calls to another phone number

1. Press the ‘Call’ App
2. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots)
3. Tap ‘Call Settings’
4. Press ‘Additional Settings’
5. Next, press ‘Call Forwarding’
6. Press the option you desire
7. Type in the phone number to forward messages to
8. Press ‘Enable’

11C. How to bar certain numbers from calling me

1. Open the Phone app
2. Press the ‘Option’ icon (3 dots)
3. Then Press ‘Call Settings’
4. Next, Press ‘Call Reject’
5. Press ‘Reject Calls from’
6. Tap the ‘Plus’ icon
7. Press ‘New Number’
8. Insert the phone number
9. Press ‘Save’
10. Return to the previous menu
11. Press ‘Call Reject Mode’
12. Press ‘Reject Calls On List’

To undo:

1. Open the ‘Reject Calls From’ list
2. Choose the number to un-block
3. Press the ‘Recycling Bin’ icon
4. Press ‘Yes’ to delete the blocked number

11D. How to add a contact or delete it

To add a new contact to an address book:

Option 1:

1. Open the Contacts app
2. Press the Plus (+) icon on the top right of the screen
3. Type in the Name, Phone number, Email and any other information for the new contact
4. Press ‘Save

Option 2:

1. Open the Calling app
2. Type in the number you’d like to add
3. Press ‘Create Contact’
4. Add the Name, Email and other information
5. Press ‘Save’

To delete a contact:

1. Open the Contacts app
2. Search for the contact to delete
3. Press on the contact
4. Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots)
5. Tap ‘Delete’
6. Press ‘Yes’

12A. How to see my software version

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘About Phone’ under ‘General’ section
4. Open ‘Software Info’
5. Read the Software information

12B. How to update my software version

1. Press the ‘Apps’ menu option
2. Slide and select the ‘Settings’ option.
3. Press ‘About Phone’
4. Then press ‘Software Updates’
5. Press ‘Update Now’
6. Follow any further prompts

13A. How to send a text or MMS

To send a text:

1. Open the messaging app
2. Press the ‘Plus’ icon to compose a message
3. Add the contact to whom the message will be sent
4. Add the message to the message field
5. Press ‘Send’

To send a multimedia message (MMS):

1. Do steps 1-4
2. Press the paper clip icon to attach media to the message
3. Choose which media to add and from where to find it. In this example we will be doing ‘Draw’
4. Draw an image
5. Press the check icon
6. Press Send.

To add images from Gallery, search for the desired image and select it. Press ‘Send’ to send the text.

13B. How to delete a text or MMS

1. Open the ‘Messaging’ App
2. Open the thread in which the message is located
   • Deleting an individual message: Hold down the text to delete and press ‘Delete’. Press ‘Delete.
   • To delete the thread: Hold down the thread and press the recycling bin to delete. Press ‘Delete.
   • To delete all threads: Press the ‘Options’ icon (3 dots). Press ‘Delete all Threads’. Press ‘Delete.

To set up auto delete:

1. Open the ‘Messaging App’
2. Press the ‘Options’ key
3. Press ‘Settings’
4. Then, Press ‘General Settings’
5. Tap ‘Delete Old Messages’
6. Press ‘Turn On’
7. Press ‘Text Message’
8. Choose the desired limit of texts until they are deleted
9. Press ‘OK’
